Welcome to my squad. Call me Blackwall or Captain.

During a combat situation, I expect all orders to be obeyed immediately. If you have a reasoned problem with my judgment, just Com up and we can discuss it after the danger passes. If it is just your bad attitude then that may be included in my notes, at my discretion. I trust you will not bother me about Anyone not accustomed to following the chain of command has no place on my squad.

Take care of yourself. I don't want to file a report that includes deceased personnel. It makes me look bad and it makes you dead. Use cover but don’t rely on it. Most modern ballistics can travel straight through common walls, be it brick, stucco, timber, or plascrete. Still, it is better to not be seen and have extra layers between you and the bullets. If you did not bring armor clothing, we will attempt to set you up with some basic protection following insertion. According to my reports our medic is good at what he does, but he can’t fix dead.

Follow all standard Combat Inc. mission protocols at all times, with one exception: If my orders appear to contradict protocols, follow my orders. Failure to do so can get you killed or worse. Again, if there is a problem or discrepancy we will discuss it during the appropriate moment, at my discretion.

Do not initiate hostilities without being ordered to do so. You are allowed to fire back when attacked, but this does not mean opening up full auto on a villager throwing a rock. The less heat we generate, the greater the chance we won’t get burned. Treat every person as a potential hostile but do your best to blend in. Ideally we will choose the time, location, and method of attack every single time. Use common sense and do not brandish weapons, cyberwear, or other high profile equipment when not absolutely necessary. Report threats, and I will make a quick assessment and then declare weapons free if necessary. We have hostile locals, hostile law enforcement, hostile government personnel, rival corporations, and magical creatures to watch out for. None of these necessarily need to be our mortal foe, but be ready for anything.

We will be inserting into what used to be a desert environment, but now with the magical changes it will be approaching more of a jungle level in most areas. Expect high heat and humidity during the day, and bitter cold at night. You will be expected to provide for yourself if nothing is provided for you. If you have a survival need, communicate it. Carry non-liquid lubricant (such as the latest graphite compounds) and be prepared for regular maintenance / cleaning of all firearms. When stowing your gear, for most guns you should keep a condom or cap on the barrel to keep out dust and moisture. Some delicate electronics and chemical compounds need to be properly sealed between uses, and you are responsible for what you carry. Anything you can’t fix yourself let me know since we should have a “gearhead” allocated to the mission that can take a look at your equipment during the appropriate time. Make sure to properly hydrate, and carry enough emergency rations to last at least 24 hours in case we are cut off from supplies.

Magic: Leave the magic to the mages. It is too dangerous to mess around with, and anything that looks supernatural probably is. Likewise, if it isn't your specialty then don't mess with it... but by all means report anything unusual or potentially hazardous to the team. I expect better of you, but I had one squaddie decide to do some amateur hacking on a job. Suffice to say it didn't end well, and I can show you the scars from that mission.

I am not against having fun. I am against screwing around on the job when the heat is on. There is a time and a place for jokes, and the best time is after a successful mission. There will be designated break periods to blow off some steam, but do not let this compromise your performance or the breaks will be eliminated. Know what intoxicants your system can handle and take it easy or face the consequences. BTLs will be confiscated and I will not hesitate to plug your datajack if any entertainment software becomes a serious issue.

Your reputation is your earning potential. Make us look good out there and the corp will reward you. Screw it up and it won't be fun for anyone. Our activities are being monitored at all times by Combat Inc. and that data goes straight up the pipeline. Let's try and make sure we won't be monitored by anyone else. Keep a low profile.

In the field, we live or die as one. We succeed or fail as one. Follow my orders, keep your head down and your aim straight, and we will all go home to a nice fat paycheck.

--Blackwall
